Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs meets and builds networks with U.S. stakeholders in Washington, D.C.

During 2 - 6 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Chairman of the Advisory Board to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, paid a visit to the U.S. with a Thai private sector delegation to attend the SelectUSA Investment Summit 2026. He held discussions with senior representatives from various U.S. sectors to further strengthen Thailand - U.S. relations and multi-faceted cooperation, as well as support the Thailand - U.S. trade negotiation process.

On 4 May 2026, the Chairman of the Advisory Board led the Thai business delegation to attend a reception hosted by the Illinois Economic Development Corporation at the Library of Congress to promote cooperation with the State of Illinois, where Thai businesses maintain significant investments, particularly in the energy sector. He and H.E. Mrs. Suphajee Suthumpun, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, together with representatives from the Thai private sector, had a discussion with the Honourable Mrs. Tammy Duckworth, U.S. Senator from Illinois. Both sides exchanged views on recent developments regarding U.S. tariff measures and the current status of Thailand - U.S. trade negotiations. They also discussed ways to strengthen economic partnership, particularly in trade, investment, energy, food and agriculture industries, medical services, and tourism, as well as cooperation on security and law enforcement, including efforts to combat online scams.

In addition, the Chairman of the Advisory Board strengthened relations and expanded networks with leading U.S. private sector stakeholders by attending a reception co-hosted by the U.S. - ASEAN Business Council (USABC) and Baker McKenzie, with participation from more than 60 representatives from the public sector, private sector, and academic institutions. He highlighted Thailand’s economic diplomacy policy, which focuses on building trust and confidence, enhancing partnerships, and creating economic opportunities that deliver tangible outcomes. He also underscored the importance of promoting two-way trade and investment, which remains a shared interest of both countries.

On 5 May 2026, the Chairman of the Advisory Board joined the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, the Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, and representatives from the Thai private sector in a meeting with Mr. Charles Freeman, Senior Vice President for Asia, and executives of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (USCC). Both sides exchanged views on recent developments relating to U.S. tariff measures and trade negotiations. The Thai side reaffirmed its commitment to concluding trade negotiations with the U.S. at the earliest opportunity. The Thai side also highlighted the Government’s policy priorities in advancing key industries, particularly AI, automotive, semiconductors, food innovation, life sciences and biotechnology, as well as clean energy, and expressed readiness to continue working closely with the U.S. private sector in these areas.
