Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs participated in the Special Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), stressing the importance of collaboration among CICA Member States in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as showing readiness to share Thailand’s experiences in development approaches through the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP).

On 24 September 2020, H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, participated in the Special Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) via video conference. The Meeting welcomed Kazakhstan’s assumption of CICA Chairmanship (2020 – 2022) following Tajikistan. Participants exchanged views on the current regional and international situations, particularly the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the direction of cooperation within the CICA framework.         

In his statement to the Meeting, the Vice Minister underscored the importance of collaboration among CICA Member States in tackling challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts, particularly the recovery efforts and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As CICA’s coordinator for Confidence Building Measures in the area of sustainable development, Thailand stands ready to share its experiences in development approaches through Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP), and to offer training programmes for CICA Member States on various subjects, particularly sustainable development and SEP.
