On 16 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, in Muscat during his official visit to Oman.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation to the Government of Oman for the assistance rendered to Thai crew members aboard the vessel “Mayuree Naree” and for facilitating their safe return to Thailand. He also sought Oman’s support in facilitating the salvage of the said vessel.

Both sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. They also underscored the importance of ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, particularly for commercial and oil tankers of countries not party to the conflict. They expressed support for diplomatic engagement and dialogue as the primary means of de-escalating tensions and achieving lasting peace and stability in the region. In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also commended Oman's role in maintaining a neutral and constructive stance, which has contributed to easing tensions in the region.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for senior leaders of Thailand and Oman to further strengthen bilateral ties and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation across various sectors. Both sides agreed to expand cooperation in key areas, including security, energy, logistics, agriculture and fisheries, as well as health and wellness tourism. In addition, both sides followed up on the outcomes of the 2nd Thailand–Oman Political Consultation and reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing cooperation in all areas to support Oman Vision 2040.
