On 22 November 2023, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand met with H.E. Mr. Ali Bagheri Kani, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, during the latter’s official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand, as guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 22-23 November 2023.

This visit sought to enhance Thai-Iranian cooperation in various dimensions, including the exchange of high-level visits, politics, economic, societal and multilateral cooperation within multilateral frameworks such as the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) under Iran’s chairmanship and the cooperation with ASEAN.

Both sides exchanged views on regional issues including situation in Israel-Gaza. On the same day, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister also met with H.E. Mr. Wanmuhamadnoor Matha, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand, and other high-ranking government officials.

In this occasion, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, hosted a luncheon in honour of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran.

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister’s official visit reflects the long-standing and historical relationship between Thailand and Iran that dated back to the Ayutthaya period and the Persian Empire, as well as underscores the commitment of the Governments of the two countries to strengthen their relationship for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.

Apart from official engagements, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran also met with the Iranian community in Thailand and was interviewed by the Thai media.
