On 9 December 2025, Ms. Rujikorn Saengchantr, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, delivered opening remarks at the workshop on Thailand’s Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) accession process. The purpose of the workshop was to provide information and prepare Thai agencies for the next steps on Thailand’s OECD accession process. In attendance were 85 representatives from 37 Thai government agencies.

The Director-General emphasized the importance of cooperation between Thai agencies and close consultations with the OECD in the next phase, namely the Technical Review, which will focus on the updating of relevant laws, policies, and practices in accordance with the OECD instruments. Ms. Gita Kothari, the OECD Accession Coordinator, and representatives from the OECD's Legal Affairs Department also briefed the Thai agencies on the process and procedures of the Technical Review.

The Technical Review is the next step in the OECD accession process, following the handover of the Initial Memorandum on 8 December 2025 by H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, to Mr. Frantisek Ruzicka, Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD, during the latter’s visit to Thailand. The Initial Memorandum is Thailand’s self-assessment of its readiness to align with OECD standards and best practices.
