On 12 January 2026, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, had a discussion with Mr. Chandramouli Ramanathan, Assistant Secretary-General for Programme Planning, Finance and Budget (ASG Controller), on the occasion of the latter’s visit to Thailand.

Both sides exchanged views on the overall operations of the United Nations, the UN reform process under the UN80 Initiative and current challenges faced by the United Nations, including financial strains. The ASG Controller expressed the United Nations’ appreciation to the Royal Thai Government in supporting the United Nations’ works and for hosting UN entities, particularly the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). He also commended Thailand for fully fulfilling its financial obligations to the regular budgets and peacekeeping operations. The Director-General reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment, as a UN Member State and the host country of ESCAP, to support the operations of the United Nations. This year marks the 80th anniversary of Thailand’s membership in the United Nations.
