On 30 June 2025, Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, along with H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand to Belgium, met with Mr. François Delhaye, Director-General for Asia and Oceania, Belgian Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, during the visit to Brussels to co-chair the 1st Thailand – EU Joint Committee Meeting.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of maintaining dialogue and exchanges at all levels and expressed their readiness to facilitate a high-level visit at the earliest mutually convenient opportunity, such as Thai Prime Minister’s official visit to Belgium and the Belgian Prime Minister’s official visit to Thailand by 2026.

The two sides also exchanged updates on ongoing bilateral cooperation and discussed ways to further strengthen Thai–Belgian relations across various aspects, in the economic aspect such as the invitation of Belgian trade delegations to Thailand and the signing of Air Service Agreement, and in the security aspect such as cooperation in combatting online scams. Both sides also exchanged views on geopolitical issues such as the situation in Myanmar, Thailand-Cambodia border, situation in Ukraine as well as the cooperation in ASEAN and the Indo-pacific region.

Additionally, the Belgian side expressed its support for Thailand in the ongoing Thai-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations, as well as for Thailand’s aspiration to accede to the OECD. Belgium also conveyed its readiness to work closely with the Thai side to schedule the 3rd Thai–Belgian Policy Consultations, to be held in Brussels.
