On 13 January 2026, Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Thailand.
Both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in all dimensions, particularly in the economic sphere, through advancing negotiations on the Thailand - Bangladesh Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and promoting connectivity between Ranong Port and Chittagong Port. They also discussed preparations for the 4th Bilateral Consultations and exchanged views on regional and international issues.
The Director-General also informed the Bangladeshi side on the latest developments regarding the Thailand - Cambodia border situation, as well as Thailand’s position of upholding peace and its commitment to the implementation of the ceasefire and other relevant agreements in order to achieve sustainable peace.
