Director-General of the South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs Department meets with Deputy Commissioner-General (Operational Support) of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) during the Working Visit to Jordan

On 7 September 2026, Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs met with Ms. Antonia Marie De Meo, Deputy Commissioner-General for Operational Support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), at the Amman New Camp, Jordan. The visit was among the important activities the Director General engaged in during her working visit to Jordan.

Both sides discussed the humanitarian work of UNRWA for the Palestinian refugees, including continued financial contributions from Thailand. On this occasion, the Director-General reiterated Thailand’s position on the two-State solution and a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the Director-General also visited the Amman New Camp to observe the living conditions of the Palestinian refugees.

Thailand has consistently provided humanitarian contributions for Palestinian refugees through financial contributions to UNRWA, the Egyptian Red Crescent, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
