On 29 September 2026, Ms. Somrudee Poopornanake, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, and Mr. Dominic Porter, Deputy Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific, European External Action Service (EEAS), co-chaired the 2nd Meeting of the Thailand–EU Joint Committee (JC). Representatives from relevant Thai and EU agencies also attended the meeting.

The 2nd Meeting of the Thailand–EU Joint Committee was convened under the Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) and served as a mechanism to advance comprehensive and substantive cooperation between Thailand and the EU.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Thailand and the EU to promoting relations based on shared values and common objectives, including multilateralism, a rules-based international order, and respect for human rights, good governance, the rule of law, and democratic values, with a view to advancing a credible and reliable partnership amid a volatile geopolitical and global economic landscape. Both sides discussed a wide range of bilateral issues of mutual interest and benefit, including security, combating cybercrime and transnational crime, defence, negotiations on the Thai–EU Free Trade Agreement, cooperation on human rights and good governance, the green transition, environment and climate change, trade and investment, science, technology, education, research and innovation, sustainable fisheries, and labour. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues.

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Thailand–EU relations in 2027, Thailand and the EU expressed their readiness to work toward a prospective upgrade of their partnership and make cooperation in all areas more strategic and more responsive to the changing global environment.
