On 20 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined the delegation of H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who delivered an address at the opening of the 82nd session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) under the theme “Leaving no one behind: advancing a society for all ages in Asia and the Pacific” at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of building a society that empowers people of all ages. He also highlighted that Thailand’s development approach is people-centered and places importance on investments in lifelong learning, the promotion of active and healthy ageing, support for decent work, and the strengthening of inclusive social protection systems.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, delivered Thailand’s statement during the General Debate under the theme “Opportunities and solutions for a sustainable future.” He underscored that, amid global uncertainty and multiple crises, there remains an important opportunity to strengthen resilience and invest in the future. Thailand places priority on advancing inclusive digital and green transitions, promoting sustainable finance, developing carbon markets, and formulating climate change legislation, with a view to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. He stressed that achieving these goals would require cooperation at all levels, including South-South and triangular cooperation.
H.E. Mr. Saran Charoensuwan, Special Envoy of the Deputy Prime Minister, delivered a special address on the theme “Resilience and Cooperation in Asia and the Pacific” at the working lunch hosted by the Executive Secretary of ESCAP. He emphasized the importance of strengthening resilience across sectors, reinforcing ESCAP, and promoting South-South and triangular cooperation. He also reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to promote regional cooperation and shared good practices with other countries. Later, H.E. Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot, Special Envoy of the Deputy Prime Minister, delivered welcoming remarks on behalf of the Thai Government, which co-hosted the reception with the Government of Azerbaijan and ESCAP, at the working dinner. The event featured an exhibition of the Thai national costume, “Chud Thai Phra Rajniyom,” as well as an AI photo booth that allowed participants to have their photos taken in the traditional Thai costume.
