On 11 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with the Group of African Heads of Mission in Thailand during a joint courtesy call. The delegation was led by H.E. Mr. Abderrahim Rahhaly, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco and Dean of the Group of African Heads of Mission in Thailand, and comprised Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the State of Libya, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya, and Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Deputy Prime Minister provided an update on the implementation of the Thailand - Africa Initiative (TAI) and shared his vision and plan on ways forward. H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, also joined to exchange views with the African side regarding future collaboration on the four pillars of the TAI, namely political, economic, development, and global strategic cooperation. The Thai side also screened a video presentation showcasing Thailand - Africa development cooperation.
The African Heads of Mission expressed their full support for Thailand’s proactive foreign policy toward Africa and shared their views on advancing the TAI.
