On 25 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with H.E. Mr. Yermek Kosherbayev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the Independence Palace in Astana, and participated in a plenary meeting to discuss cooperation across a wide range of cooperation. The discussions focused on strengthening political and economic cooperation, enhancing trade value and investment, and Thailand’s readiness to commence negotiations on the Thailand–EAEU Free Trade Agreement.

Both sides also emphasized the importance of advancing people-to-people connectivity, tourism, cooperation in medical and public health sector, food security, energy, rare minerals as well as opportunities to expand cooperation in multilateral and regional frameworks, including CICA, ACD, and ASEAN. On this occasion, they signed a Joint Action Plan to promote closer cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries and outline preparations for the celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the diplomatic relations in 2027.

The Thai delegation also visited Alem.AI, an International Center for Artificial Intelligence, a key regional hub for AI in Central Asia, which aims to bring together education, research, startup development, innovation, and the application of AI across both the public and private sectors in one place.
