On 18 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Ms. Angela Jane Macdonald, Ambassador of Australia to Thailand, on the occasion of the completion of her tenure.
 
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the Australian Ambassador’s active role over the past four years as the first female Australian Ambassador to Thailand and also played a crucial role in strengthening bilateral relations under the Thailand - Australia Strategic Partnership, bringing them closer in all dimensions.
 
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the importance of promoting cooperation between both countries, as middle powers, to enhance security and sustainability in the region for the mutual benefit of all parties, especially amidst regional developments and the situation in the Middle East that have affected the global energy situation. He also commended the Australian Ambassador for initiating and driving activities to support development cooperation within both the ASEAN framework and the Mekong sub-region, including human resource development, energy cooperation, water resources, as well as the prevention and suppression of transnational crime.
