On 3 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a consultation with international legal advisors at the Residence of the Ambassador of Thailand in Paris during his visit to France to attend the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting.

Discussions were aimed at further bolstering Thailand’s proactive stance regarding the Overlapping Claim Area (OCA) in the continental shelf between Thailand and Cambodia, as well as Thailand's legal and procedural readiness for the commencement of compulsory conciliation under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which had been prepared in advance for some time. This consultation follows a crucial preparatory meeting held in Bangkok on 29 May 2026, prior to his trip to Paris, where the Deputy Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the Committee to Consider Approaches for Resolving the Thailand-Cambodia Overlapping Claims Area. The session brought together all relevant Thai government agencies to share information and establish a unified approach.
