During 9 - 10 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, accompanied H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, on his official visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The visit was Prime Minister Anutin’s first official visit to Malaysia since assuming office. This was of particular significance as the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Malaysia set the direction for bilateral relations ahead of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year. The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in various areas in order to bring about concrete results, particularly in border security and development, cross-border connectivity, trade and investment promotion, people-to-people relations, as well as cooperation within ASEAN. The Deputy Prime Minister also shared updates on developments in the region.

In Putrajaya, the two Prime Ministers witnessed the exchange of the Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Cooperation between Thailand and Malaysia. On the following day, they also presided over the opening ceremony of the road alignment linking CIQ Sadao and ICQS Bukit Kayu Hitam. This important project will help enhance cross-border connectivity and facilitate cross-border movement of goods and peoples.

In addition, the Prime Minister also met with representative of Thai business community in Malaysia to discuss what the two Governments can do to support their businesses.
