H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to attend the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) and related meetings with partner countries from 14 - 15 May 2026, at the invitation of Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, in India’s capacity as BRICS Chair for 2026.
This BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting is convened under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The meeting will discuss ways to strengthen cooperation amid global uncertainties, including in the areas of economic resilience, energy and food security, as well as the transition toward digital and green economies. It aims to leverage innovation and international cooperation to drive sustainable development. On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister will emphasize the necessity of reforming global governance and the multilateral system to ensure that they are modernized, inclusive, and aligned with the evolving global context, while reaffirming the central role of the United Nations and forums such as BRICS as pillars of multilateralism. He will also advocate for enhancing the role of developing countries and strengthening cooperation to address shared challenges, particularly in the areas of economic and human security, as well as transnational threats in the digital era. In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers and high-level representatives from various countries on the sidelines of the Meeting in order to further strengthen relations and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
BRICS is an interregional grouping of many developing countries to further promote the interests of the Global South. BRICS currently has 10 member countries and 10 partner countries. Thailand has been a partner country since January 2025.
