Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with the Minister of Defence

On 12 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with Lieutenant General Adul Boonthumjaroen, Minister of Defence. The meeting was attended by senior officials from both ministries.

Both sides discussed ways to strengthen coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence. Key issues discussed included the role of the Thai delegation in participating in the 23rd IISS Shangri-La Dialogue to be held in Singapore from 29 - 31 May 2026, Thailand’s strategy and position regarding the regional security situation and great power competition in the region, as well as Thailand’s role in international and subregional forums, particularly within the ASEAN framework. They also exchanged views on measures to further deepen cooperation between the two ministries, with a view to strengthening unified coordination in Thailand’s diplomacy and defence efforts.
