On 14 March 2024, H.E. Dr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, had a telephone conversation with H.E. Mr. Ali Sabry, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Both sides emphasised the close and cordial relations between the two countries. Sri Lanka expressed appreciation for the recent official visit of the Prime Minister of Thailand on 3-4 February 2024.

Both sides agreed to promote cooperation in various sectors following the recent official visit to Sri Lanka of the Prime Minister of Thailand, especially in investment in the renewable energy and fishery sectors. Additionally, Sri Lanka requested Thailand's assistance in facilitating the repatriation of 8 (out of 57) Sri Lankan nationals stranded in Myanmar back to Sri Lanka to which Thailand expressed its readiness to facilitate the said repatriation.
