On 18 - 19 November 2025, H.E. Ms. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, visited the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to co-chair the 3rd Thailand - Pakistan Political Consultations together with H.E. Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, Ambassador and Additional Foreign Secretary of Pakistan (Asia Pacific), in Islamabad.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen relations and cooperation through the exchange of high-level visits, establishment of an enhanced bilateral mechanism, participation in trade fairs, expansion of direct flights between the two countries, enhancing educational exchanges, combatting online scams, deepening security and military cooperation, as well as organizing activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Pakistan in 2026. They also exchanged views on political and economic developments in the region, as well as cooperation within the ASEAN and UN frameworks, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Thailand and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the fields of science, technology and innovation, and trade.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary also paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Nabeel Munir, Ambassador and Special Secretary and Acting Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations, particularly through exchanges of visits and high-level meetings, promoting trade, connectivity, Buddhist tourism, and cultural activities, in order to strengthen people-to-people relations.
In addition, the Deputy Permanent Secretary had a meeting with Mr. Asim Dogar, Acting Curator of the Taxila Museum, to discuss cooperation in organizing cultural activities related to Gandhara Buddhism on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
