On 9 May 2025, Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, and Ms. Kristi Karelsohn, Director General of the Department for Asia and the Pacific, Middle East and Africa of Estonia, co-chaired the 4th Thai-Estonian Political Consultations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia.

Both sides reviewed bilateral relations and engaged in fruitful discussions on ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in cybersecurity, digital government development, education, and the promotion of startups. Additionally, they also discussed ways to expand trade and investment, including the timely conclusion of the Thailand–EU FTA negotiations, Estonia’s support for Thailand’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as well as the waiver of visa for Thai ordinary passport holders entering the Schengen area.

On this occasion, the Director-General of the Department for Asia and the Pacific, Middle East and Africa of Estonia hosted a luncheon for the Thai delegation and further discussed regional and global issues, including developments in ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific region and the situation in Ukraine and Myanmar.
