Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with EU-ASEAN Business Council and European Business Leaders to Strengthen Thailand–EU Economic Partnership
On 15 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensawan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, chaired a consultative meeting with Mr. Noel Clehane, Vice Chairman of the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) and representatives of the European Association for Business and Commerce (EABC), which represents European businesses operating in Thailand. The meeting was also attended by representatives from the relevant Thai agencies, including Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EEC), the Board of Investment (BOI), Ministry of Commerce, The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC).
The discussions focused on strengthening Thailand–EU economic cooperation and enhancing investor confidence. Both sides exchanged views on Thailand's readiness to facilitate trade and investment in future-oriented industries, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), electric vehicles (EVs), and the medical and wellness sectors. Thailand also reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the green transition and promoting regional economic cooperation within ASEAN, including during its ASEAN Chairmanship in 2028.
During the networking reception, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered welcoming remarks, reaffirming Thailand's strong commitment to advancing key economic priorities, determination to conclude the Thailand–EU FTA, and Thailand's readiness to become a member of the OECD. He also expressed confidence in the continued growth of the Thailand–EU economic partnership and expanding opportunities for collaboration between Thailand and European businesses.
Both sides expressed readiness to maintaining close dialogue to advance the Thailand–EU economic partnership for the mutual benefit of businesses and their people.
