On 22 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, represented the Minister at the 10th Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Forum for East Asia - Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) in Ulaanbaatar, co-chaired by Mongolia and the Dominican Republic.
The Meeting reviewed the progress of FEALAC’s cooperation over the past 25 years, and reaffirmed that FEALAC remains a vital platform connecting East Asia and Latin America across economic, social, cultural and people-to-people dimensions. Member countries also exchanged views on enhancing future cooperation to tackle shared challenges, including strengthening institutional mechanisms to enhance FEALAC’s visibility, and boost its role in international fora. The meeting concluded with the adoption of the Ulaanbaatar Declaration, outlining the strategic direction for enhancing cooperation and connectivity between the two regions.
The Secretary to the Minister underscored the importance of deepening economic connectivity, particularly through reviving the FEALAC Business Forum to boost trade, investment, and private sector networking. He also advocated stronger collaboration on sustainable and inclusive development and environmental cooperation, as well as emphasized the role of soft power in fostering people-to-people ties. He then invited member states to participate in Thailand’s national project, the Online Thai Language Teaching Project for Foreigners for 2025 - 2026.
FEALAC is a forum for cooperation between East Asia and Latin America. The Forum was established in 1999 with Thailand as one of the founding countries. Currently, there are 36 member countries. Its objective is to promote cooperation in politics, economics, culture, sustainable development, and people-to-people relations between the two regions.
