Royal Thai Government presents financial contribution in support of humanitarian assistance for earthquake-affected communities in Myanmar

On 8 May 2025, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, as a representative of the Royal Thai Government, presented a financial contribution to international organizations in support of humanitarian assistance for earthquake-affected communities in Myanmar, as follows: (1) three million baht to United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to provide assistance in the areas of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), and (2) three million baht to World Food Programme (WFP) to provide food assistance.

The Director-General reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to collaborate with the international community in addressing the humanitarian needs caused by the aftermath of the earthquake in Myanmar, in an accessible, timely, effective and non-discriminatory manner. The two international organizations expressed their appreciation for Thailand’s long-standing and constructive role, as a next-door neighbour and one of the leading countries, in providing humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, and reassured that the financial contibution will be mobilized urgently, to reach the areas and those most in need of assistance.
