On 6 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, presented the Royal Thai Government’s financial contribution of 14,900,000 Baht, or approximately 460,000 USD, to Mr. Lee Yam Ming, Executive Director of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre), at the AHA Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia. The contribution aims to support humanitarian assistance and further mitigate the impact of the earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March 2025. At present, Myanmar still requires substantial support for its recovery from the said disaster.

The Foreign Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to working with the international community to ensure that humanitarian assistance in Myanmar is accessible, timely, effective and non-discriminatory. Since the earthquake, Thailand has been consistent in extending assistance to Myanmar through various channels, including the delivery of royal relief items graciously bestowed by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand, food donations from Thai private companies operating in Myanmar, as well as financial contributions through international organizations such as the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

On this occasion, the Executive Director of the AHA Centre expressed gratitude and appreciation for Thailand’s constructive role in providing humanitarian support to the people of Myanmar who continue to suffer from the impacts of natural disasters. He affirmed that the financial contribution would help expand and enable humanitarian assistance to reach more affected communities.
