On 3 June 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM) 2025 in Paris, France, as follows:

(1) He had a chance to meet and discuss with Ambassador Jamieson Greer, U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), where the Foreign Minister stressed that the Thai government attaches high importance to the trade talk between Thailand and the U.S. and has a strong desire for it to take place soonest. He also told Ambassador Greer that H.E. Mr. Robert F. Godec, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, earlier told him about the possibility of having a virtual meeting between the two sides soon, for which H.E. Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, will be the Lead Negotiator on the Thai side and is ready to start the negotiation with Ambassador Greer or Secretary Scott Bessent, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, immediately. Ambassador Greer said that the U.S. side is ready to negotiate with Thailand on a mutually convenient date & time. The Foreign Minister will follow up and coordinate through Ambassador Godec accordingly.

(2) He had a bilateral discussion with H.E. Mr. Benjamin Dousa, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Sweden, where the two sides exchanged views on the developments on regional and international arena, and discussed issues of common interests. The Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction with the longstanding bilateral relations, and stressed the importance of enhancing collaborations in all dimensions to face the uncertainties in the world today. The Foreign Minister also lauded the elevation of bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership, and the development of a Joint Plan of Action as a roadmap for cooperation in priority areas. In addition, the Foreign Minister also expressed appreciation for the Swedish side’s support for Thailand’s OECD membership. The Thai side also requested support for the Thailand - EU FTA negotiations, which the Swedish side affirmed its support. He also pointed out the constructive role of Thailand in the South Asia and Southeast Asia regions, as well as being a bridge builder between OECD and Asia.
