Minister of Foreign Affairs holds a bilateral meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Papua New Guinea during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week

On 30 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a bilateral meeting with Honourable Justin Tkatchenko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Papua New Guinea, on the sidelines of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2025 in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Papua New Guinea conveyed Papua New Guinea’s condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.

On this occasion, both sides discussed cooperation on agriculture and fishery aimed at enhancing Papua New Guinea’s food security, medicine, and sustainable development. They also exchanged views on situations in the region and cooperation in multilateral fora, such as ASEAN, APEC, Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), and Thailand-Pacific Island Countries Forum (TPIF).

In addition, the Papua New Guinean side also expressed appreciation for Thailand’s facilitation in the opening of Papua New Guinea embassy in Thailand scheduled for the end this year — a momentous milestone prelude to the 50th anniversary of Thailand-Papua New Guinea diplomatic relations in 2026.
