On 5 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the Lao New Year Celebration 2026 at the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) and was welcomed by H.E. Mr. Thongsavan Phomvihane, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister took this opportunity to express appreciation to the Government of the Lao PDR for graciously receiving Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand during Their State Visit to the Lao PDR on 16 - 18 March 2026. In particular, he conveyed his gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Lao PDR for serving as the Minister-in-Attendance throughout the Visit. Both sides also discussed cooperation in addressing the impacts of the Middle East situation, as well as advancing bilateral mechanisms between the two countries.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister also participated in the Baci (Blessing) Ceremony, as well as attended a dinner reception and cultural performances aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries.
