On 16 July 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed H.E. Mr. Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, on the latter’s first official visit to Thailand.
Both sides expressed their interest in promoting an exchange of visits at all levels, including at the level of government, business and people-to-people. They expressed their readiness to conclude the Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Ordinary Passports and to explore the possibility of launching direct flights between Thailand and Belarus. Both sides also discussed ways to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, particularly trade, investment, and tourism.
In addition, the Foreign Minister of Belarus also paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives, to discuss ways in enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation. He also had a discussion with H.E. Mr. Chantawit Tantasith, Deputy Minister of Commerce, to exchange views on promoting bilateral trade and economic cooperation and signed the Memorandum on the establishment of a Joint Thai - Belarusian Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
