On 23 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held an online discussion with H.E. Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, on the situation along the Thailand–Cambodia border.

During the discussion, both sides exchanged views in a straightforward manner on the situation along the Thailand–Cambodia border. In this context, the Minister thanked the French side for its concern regarding the situation. He also expressed Thailand’s desire to bring the Thailand–Cambodia border situation to an end through peaceful means via bilateral mechanisms.

The discussion reflected the shared intention of both sides to support the easing of tensions and to lead to a sustainable ceasefire.

In addition, both sides recalled the long-standing historical ties between Thailand and France and discussed preparations for the celebration of the 170th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026.
