Minister of Foreign Affairs joins the Prime Minister in attending the 28th ASEAN - China Summit

On 28 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, in attending the 28th ASEAN – China Summit on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Meeting discussed how to drive the ASEAN - China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) forward, especially in light of the 5th anniversary of the CSP in 2026, as well as exchanged views on key regional issues.
 
The Prime Minister emphasized the strong ASEAN - China relations as a driving force for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region with immense potential to benefit both within and beyond the region. To take the partnership forward, he proposed areas of cooperation, including (1) advancing economic integration through the upgraded ASEAN - China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA 3.0) and more effective use of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), strengthening supply chains, creating business opportunities for MSMEs and advancing green growth, digital transformation, and smart agriculture; (2) addressing transboundary security challenges, especially transnational crime, online scams, human trafficking, and transboundary haze; and (3) fostering constructive engagement to build a safer and more secure region.
 
In addition, the Prime Minister also witnessed the signing of the Protocol to Upgrade the ASEAN - China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA 3.0) before the meeting began.
