On 24 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered opening remarks for a roundtable discussion titled “Geopolitical and Geoeconomic Outlook 2026 Implication for Thailand Round 2” at Nextopia, Siam Paragon. The event was co-hosted by the Institute for Strategic Policy (ISP), the Office of the National Security Council, the Strategic Studies Center, and the International Studies Center. In attendance were representatives from governmental agencies in the field of foreign affairs, security, and economy, as well as private-sector representatives and experts in those fields.

The Foreign Minister stated that, amid the impacts of an increasingly volatile global landscape affecting the rules-based international order, Thailand’s foreign policy must adopt an appropriate and well-calibrated stance and adhere to the concept of the “3Rs,” namely regionalism, resilience and relevance, in order to strengthen ASEAN and promote the region as a safe and opportunity-rich destination for investment. Thailand must ensure that its economy is well-prepared to accommodate such investment.

The Foreign Minister further emphasized that middle powers should play a more proactive role in upholding the rules-based international order. Thailand can take on a significant role in safeguarding maritime security, as well as energy and food security, including proactively combating online scams.
