On 22 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Theerakun Niyom, Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the opening ceremony of the special exhibition “Amazing Thailand: Masterpieces of Thai Art” at the National Museum of Korea as a Guest of Honour, together with Mr. Tossaporn Srisaman, Deputy Director-General of the Fine Arts Department, and Mr. Panidone Pachimsawat, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information. H.E. Mr. Tanee Sangrat, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of Korea, also delivered opening remarks at the ceremony, which was attended by government representatives, cultural leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, and media representatives from Thailand and the Republic of Korea.

The exhibition is organized through a collaboration between Thailand’s Fine Arts Department, Ministry of Culture of Thailand, and the National Museum of Korea to showcase Thailand’s history, art, and cultural heritage from prehistoric times to the present day. Featuring more than 200 treasured artefacts, artworks, and masterpieces of craftsmanship from across Thailand, the exhibition will be open to the public from 23 June to 6 September 2026. The exhibition reflects the strong cultural ties between Thailand and the Republic of Korea, as well as their shared commitment to fostering mutual understanding and closer people-to-people ties through cultural exchange.

In addition, the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul has organized a parallel display of
‘Chud Thai’, or Thai National Dress, in the museum’s foyer. Supported by the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, the display showcases the richness of Thai craftsmanship, cultural wisdom, and national identity to Korean and international visitors in support of Thailand’s nomination of ‘Chud Thai: Knowledge, Craftsmanship, and Practices of the Thai National Costume’ for inscription on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The ‘Chud Thai’ display is scheduled between 22 June to 15 July 2026.
