On 12 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation with H.E. Mr. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman. The Foreign Minister conveyed Thailand’s appreciation to the Government of the Sultanate of Oman for its assistance to 20 Thai crew members and to follow up on the searching efforts for 3 crew members who remain missing following the attack on a Thai-flagged vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on 11 March 2026. The Thai side commended the Sultanate of Oman's constructive role as a trusted mediator in the region. Both sides shared the same view that all parties should return to diplomacy and dialogue to de-escalate the situation at the earliest opportunity.
On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, also participated in the conversation with concern over the tensions in the Middle East and concern for the safety and well-being of the Thai crew members.
