H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to attend the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings on 8 - 11 July 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Foreign Ministers and representatives from 30 countries and organisations are expected to participate in this important annual gathering.

ASEAN Foreign Ministers will discuss the progress of ASEAN cooperation under the theme of Malaysia’s chairmanship, “Inclusivity and Sustainbility,” and prepare for the upcoming 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in October 2025, to be held in Kuala Lumpur. They will also hold discussions and exchange views on key regional and international developments with ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners—namely Australia, Canada, China, the European Union, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States—through various frameworks, such as the ASEAN Plus One, ASEAN Plus Three (APT), East Asia Summit (EAS), and ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).

During the course of 17 ministerial meetings, the Foreign Minister will seek to strengthen cooperation to address non-traditional security challenges, such as human security threats, transboundary haze pollution and online scams, as well as to promote economic security and the digital economy. The Foreign Minister will also advance efforts to respond to an increasingly volatile global landscape and to maintain peace and stability in the region in line with the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP).

As the country coordinator for ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations for 2024-2027, the Foreign Minister will also co-chair the ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference with the Republic of Korea. In addition, the Foreign Minister will take this opportunity to engage in bilateral meetings with key partners to further promote areas of mutual interest.
