On 29 - 31 March 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to pay a visit to Hawaii, United States of America, to further advance the Thailand - U.S. alliance and strategic partnership in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet with Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), and General Ronald P. Clark, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC), to enhance Thai - U.S. defense and security cooperation for shared strategic interest, especially in the context of current global dynamics and new forms of security threats, as well as to exchange views on global and regional security situations of mutual interest.
The Foreign Minister will deliver remarks at East-West Center on “The Future of the Thai - U.S. Alliance in a Changing Global and Regional Landscape” to share Thailand’s vision on the changing regional and global landscape, and the future of the Thai - U.S. alliance and strategic partnership in multi-faceted dimensions. He will also meet with the Governor of Hawaii and executives of the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS), as well as Thai entrepreneurs and students in Hawaii.
This is the first official visit to Hawaii by a Thai Foreign Minister in 15 years. Hawaii has strategic importance to security in the Indo-Pacific and connects the East and West. The State is also home to leading U.S. academic institutions that play an important role in promoting understanding and cooperation, connecting the people of the U.S. and countries in the region. At present, there are more than 5,000 Thais residing in Hawaii.
