On 14 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended a friendly football match between Buakeaw FC of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the diplomatic community in Thailand, including those from Canada, Mexico, the U.S., Belgium, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, and Norway. The event was jointly organized by the Embassies of Canada, the U.S., and Mexico in Thailand at NIST International School, Bangkok, to mark the FIFA World Cup 2026, which is co-hosted by the three countries.

Before the event, all participants observed a moment of silence in remembrance of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati Kromluang Rajasarinisiribajra Mahavajrarajadhita.

In his opening remarks, the Vice Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of people-to-people ties as a key foundation of strong international relations and noted that sports can serve as a means of fostering friendship, mutual trust, and cooperation among countries. Following the match, the Deputy Prime Minister presented the trophy to the diplomatic community team, which won the competition.
