Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs delivers opening remarks at seminar on green economy in Europe for Thai startups

On 16 September 2025, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, delivered opening remarks at the seminar on “Green TechBite towards EU Market,” co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and KX Knowledge Xchange during 15-17 September 2025. The seminar aimed at enhancing the knowledge of green economy in Europe for Thai startups, as well as strengthening cooperation and networks between Thailand and Europe on the green economy, in order to achieve sustainable development, high standards, and European market entry for the Thai private sector. It was attended by more than 70 participants, most of which were Thai startups, as well as public sector officials, Thai and foreign investors, and representatives from foreign embassies in Thailand.

The event consisted of activities as follows (1) keynote speech on “Green Economy Opportunities in Germany and the EU” and “Thai Company Success Story in the EU” by Thai and European speakers, (2) panel discussion on BCG economy between Thailand and the European Union, (3) workshop on expanding business to the European market for Thai entrepreneurs, (4) networking between Thai and European entrepreneurs, and (5) site visit at the Excellent Center of Waste Utilization and Management (ECoWaste) and CES Solar Cells Testing Center (CSSC) at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkhuntien Campus.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary emphasized that Thailand has always attached importance to sustainable development and green economy, committed to driving its climate action goals for carbon neutrality by 2050 and net zero by 2065. Startups also play a key role in creating green innovation and technology. This event was a great opportunity for Thai startups to gain knowledge about green economy and to build capacity to be able to compete in the European market.
