On 14 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended an informal consultation “tea chat” among Foreign Ministers of China, Cambodia and Thailand, on the sidelines of the 10th MLC FM meeting in Anning, Yunnan, at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.

Foreign Minister Maris expressed Thailand's appreciation for China’s constructive role in supporting the peaceful resolution between Thailand and Cambodia through bilateral mechanisms with the support of ASEAN, and the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire.

Foreign Minister Maris also reiterated the urgent need for Thailand-Cambodia cooperation on demining along the border, as an important step for reducing tension and restoring normalcy to the border areas. He thanked FM Wang Yi for his support towards an agreement on this issue which is expected to be discussed in the upcoming RBC. Another important issue agreed upon is the need to prevent misunderstanding and misinformation through social media.
