Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya graciously serves as patron of the exhibition La Mode en Majesté – Royal Thai Dress: From Tradition to Modernity, which will be held from 13 May to 1 November 2026 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, France. The exhibition is organized through the collaboration of the Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (SACIT), The Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, the Royal Thai Embassy in Paris, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
This exhibition is organized to celebrate two important milestones: the 340th anniversary of relations and the 170th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the French Republic (1856–2026). It will showcase over 200 pieces, including royal gowns, garments, and accessories designed by French couturier Pierre Balmain in collaboration with the renowned embroidery house Lesage, as well as works by Thai designers.
The exhibition highlights the evolution of royal court attire and its representation on the global stage through the display of royal garments belonging to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya. It also features all eight styles of the “Chud Thai Phra Ratcha Niyom” (royally endorsed Thai national costumes), presented alongside exquisite Thai craftsmanship. Together, these works reflect the refinement of Thai wisdom and cultural heritage that has been preserved over generations.
Furthermore, the exhibition plays a significant role in supporting the nomination of “Chud Thai Phra Ratcha Niyom” for inscription on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2026.
