The Royal Thai Embassy in Lisbon, in cooperation with the Department of Occupational Health and Safety, Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, organized a workshop on “Ergonomics and Health Care” for Thai workers in the agricultural sector in Portugal during 20–21 September 2025, as a side activity of the Embassy’s mobile consular services in Brejão, Portugal.
In this regard, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sara Aporn from the Department of Occupational Health and Safety, Mahidol University shared knowledge to Thai workers on the following topics:
1. Physical health care during work, focusing on proper working posture based on ergonomic principles to prevent and alleviate injuries and reduce the severity of health problems caused by continuous physical work.
2. Physical care of important internal organs related to work activities, such as intervertebral discs and joints.
3. Practical training on safe lifting techniques, emphasizing the use of leg strength instead of the back to reduce the risk of herniated discs and nerve compression.
4. Guidance and assessment of mental health and work-related stress.
The joint activity organized by the Embassy and Mahidol University received great interest from Thai workers. Therefore, we organized two sessions of this activity ; on 20 September 2025 at the Brejão Cultural Center, and 21 September 2025 at Fruitadivina, as per request.
This activity is part of the Embassy’s consular services under the slogan ‘Diplomacy for the People — We provide care wherever you are. The Royal Thai Embassy wishes to express its sincere appreciation to Mahidol University for its cooperation in organizing this activity. The Embassy hopes that Thai workers will gain useful guidance to support both their physical and mental well-being in their daily work.
