On 8 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, joined a bilateral meeting between H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, and Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, on the sidelines of the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, the Republic of the Philippines.
Both Prime Ministers reaffirmed their close relations as neighbouring countries and expressed their commitment to further enhancing cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, including within the ASEAN framework. Both sides also discussed cross-border connectivity, economic development and border security, as well as exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern. Thailand and Malaysia will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 2027.
