On 13 May 2025, Ms. Prangtip Kanchanahattakij, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs, attended the Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) of the Mekong-Republic of Korea (Mekong-ROK) Cooperation held in Hanoi, the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

The meeting comprehensively reviewed the progress achieved under the Mekong-ROK Plan of Action 2021-2025 and facilitated productive exchanges on the strategic direction of the forthcoming Plan of Action 2026-2030. During the discussion, each member country reaffirmed the commitment to promote tangible cooperation for sustainable growth and development in the Mekong subregion. On this occasion, Thailand emphasized the importance of enhanced cooperation in addressing urgent subregional challenges, including
(1) water resources management,
(2) transboundary air pollution, and
(3) transboundary crime.

Thailand also encouraged the strengthening of business engagement among private sectors.

 
On 14 May 2025, the Deputy Director-General also participated in the opening ceremony of the Mekong-ROK Cooperation Forum, organized by the Mekong Institute (MI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam. The Forum highlighted key outcomes and achievements of projects supported by the Mekong-ROK Cooperation Fund (MKCF), which plays a crucial role in advancing concrete cooperation under the Mekong-ROK framework.
