Severe flooding in Hat Yai and several provinces in southern Thailand has resulted in widespread damage to life and property.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and offers moral support to those affected to overcome this crisis, while expressing the hope that the situation will return to normal soonest.
In addition to Thai citizens facing this crisis, a number of foreigners have also been affected. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with various agencies, both Thai and foreign counterparts, including Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, China, Croatia, Hungary, Bangladesh, Bhutan, South Africa, and the United States, to provide assistance to stranded foreigners, in parallel with the assistance provided to local residents over the past several days.
At the same time, we have also received offers from several countries, international organizations, and the foreign private sector, expressing their readiness to provide assistance in rescue and rehabilitation efforts, should it be requested by Thailand.
In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established a "Coordination Center for Assistance to Foreigners Affected by the Southern Floods" to coordinate assistance for stranded foreigners and to coordinate with other countries extending assistance based on local needs. The Center can be contacted at 0-2643-5264 or at [email protected].
Thai nationals who may be affected by the flooding in neighboring countries can contact the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in their respective countries for assistance at any time. Alternatively, they can contact the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the 24-hour emergency number 0-2572-8442, or via the "Thaiconsular" Line account and the “Thai Consular” application, where assistance will be provided through all channels.
