On 10 March 2022, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs discussed with Ms. Mary Thurston, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the New Zealand Embassy in Thailand.

Both sides discussed ways to promote bilateral relations and move forward concrete cooperation at the 12th Thailand-New Zealand Senior Officials’ Talks, to be hosted by Thailand in 2022. Both sides also discussed progress under Thailand’s APEC host year, cooperation in ASEAN and the Mekong sub-region, particularly on New Zealand’s keen interest to become ACMECS’ 2nd batch Development Partner, as well as exchanged views on the situation and humanitarian assistance in Myanmar, the situation in Ukraine, and the Universal Periodic Review process.
