100-Day Merit-Making Ceremony in Dedication to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother

On Saturday, January 31, 2026, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in New York, in collaboration with Wat New York Dhammaram, New York, organized a 100-day merit-making ceremony in dedication to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother at Wat New York Dhammaram, New York.
The ceremony was presided over by Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, and Phra Khru Withun Thammappakarn, Abbot of Wat Buddha Thai Thavorn Vanaram, New York. A total of 40 participants, including officials and staff of the Royal Thai Consulate-General, heads of Team Thailand offices, government officials and staff, as well as members of the Thai community in New York and vicinities, attended the ceremony.
The ceremony commenced with the Consul General paying tribute before the royal portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, delivering remarks expressing deep condolences, and leading attendees in a 93-second moment of silence in remembrance of Her Majesty’s immeasurable grace and benevolence.This was followed by Consul General lighting incense and candles in homage to the Triple Gem. Five monks from Wat Buddha Thai Thavorn Vanaram and Wat New York Dhammaram, New York, chanted Buddhist prayers. Thereafter, the Consul General, government officials, and members of the Thai community jointly presented saffron robes and religious offerings.
In addition, on Friday, January 30, 2026, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, together with officials and staff of the Royal Thai Consulate-General and heads, officials, and staff of Team Thailand offices, attended a 100-day merit-making ceremony in dedication to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations in New York. The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Mr. Cherdchai Chaivaivid, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations, with officials of the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations and their spouses also in attendance.
