On 3 October 2025, Mrs. Hataya Khusakul, Director General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, chaired the Meeting on JPoA Thailand-New Zealand Strategic Partnership 2026 - 2030 and JPoA to Implement the Thailand-Australia Strategic Partnership 2026 - 2029, at the Ministry.
The draft Joint Plans of Action mark important milestones in Thailand’s partnerships with New Zealand and Australia. The draft Plan with New Zealand is the first of its kind, aiming to promote broad and mutually beneficial cooperation. It will complement the planned elevation of Thailand-New Zealand relations to a Strategic Partnership, in line with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2026. The draft Plan with Australia is set to build on the success of the current Plan, which is due to expire in 2025. It builds on the Strategic Partnership established in 2020 and aims to further strengthen bilateral collaboration between Thailand and Australia, advancing their shared benefits and supporting regional stability and prosperity.
To establish Joint Plans of Action for guiding cooperation over the next 4 to 5 years between Thailand and Australia, as well as Thailand and New Zealand, the meeting was attended by representatives from 39 relevant Thai agencies, reflecting the close and dynamic relationships between Thailand and her two partners.
