On 18 February 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Embassy of Canada in Thailand, organized the launch of the official logo commemorating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Canada. The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Ms. Ping Kitnikone, Ambassador of Canada to Thailand. In attendance were more than 100 distinguished guests from government agencies, the private sector, academia, civil society, as well as former Thai Ambassadors to Ottawa who have contributed to advancing Thailand - Canada relations.

The Secretary to the Foreign Minister expressed his condolences regarding the tragic incident in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, on 10 February 2026. He highlighted the cordial and constructive relations between Thailand and Canada since the establishment of diplomatic relations on 8 November 1961. Over nearly 65 years, cooperation between the two countries has steadily expanded across a wide range of areas, including political and security, trade and investment, as well as education, science, technology, and innovation. He also underscored the importance of people-to-people relations as a vital foundation for strengthening mutual understanding and fostering closer ties between the two nations. The Ambassador of Canada to Thailand emphasized that the Thailand - Canada partnership has been built on friendship, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to regional stability, as well as continued cooperation in areas of mutual benefit.

The event featured the unveiling of the official logo selected for the 65th anniversary celebrations. Designed by Mr. Korakot Chaiyon, the logo creatively integrates the elephant and the maple leaf, national symbols of Thailand and Canada, reflecting shared values and the enduring partnership that has characterized more than six decades of bilateral relations. The Ministry and the Embassy will use the logo in activities throughout 2026. There was also a Khon performance, Thailand’s classical masked dance drama, by Mr. Benjamin Tardif, a Canadian Khon performer with a deep appreciation for Thai arts and culture.
