H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will welcome H.E. Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), who will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand during 21 - 23 May 2025 at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, Foreign Minister Thongsavanh will hold a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Maris to follow up on the outcomes of the official visit to Thailand by the Prime Minister of the Lao PDR in February 2025. The two Ministers will discuss key areas of cooperation, particularly transboundary challenges such as narcotics, online scams, and water resource management, as well as ways to enhance cross-border trade, logistics, connectivity and development of border areas. The Ministers will also exchange views on joint activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR this year, as well as on regional issues of common interest.

In addition, Foreign Minister Thongsavanh will also visit sites of historical and cultural significance to Thai - Lao relations in Loei and Chiang Mai provinces.
