The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand held a video conference with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore to discuss international travel restrictions easing, cooperation on public health, vaccine development, trade and investment, digital, security, people-to-people exchanges and regional issues.

On 17 November 2020, Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Chee Wee Kiong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, via video conference.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore congratulated the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand on the latter’s recent appointment. Both sides discussed wide-ranging issues, including the needs to ease international travel restrictions as COVID-19 situation improves, so as to encourage the resumption of economic activities. They also discussed cooperation on public health, vaccine development, trade and investment, digital, security, as well as people-to-people exchanges. Moreover, the two Permanent Secretaries exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering ASEAN’s resilience and centrality in response to emerging geopolitical challenges.
